MARTIN STITT, DIRECTOR
Director with industry experience as Writer, Producer, Editor and Lighting Cameraman.

Prior to moving into the film industry, Martin worked as an International Financier, Army Officer in the Brigade of Gurkhas and as a photographer. His knowledge of both the creative and financial aspects of Filmmaking has allowed Martin to produce and direct stories with production values far in excess of the budget.

His last film, Alone Together, an adaptation of a fringe play follows four couples on one–night stands in London. This is an intimate character driven film with the actor’s performances key to its success. Alone Together was selected for competition in the feature category of the British Council sponsored Berlin film festival Brit Spotting, an achievement considering the budget for the entire production was £2,500.

“…a beautifully shot film with interesting characters driving the narrative forward…” — John Yorke, Head of Drama, Channel 4

“…a highly enjoyable film…” — Tracey Scoffield, Executive Producer and Head of Development BBC Films

Among Martin’s credits are the series Dosja e Krimit (Co-producer, Director) for United Nations TV in Kosovo, Patrol (Camera, Director) — a documentary about British forces peacekeeping in Kosovo, Hamro Jiwan (Writer, Director) — a docu–drama shot on location in West Nepal and Nine Days Of Hell (Co-producer, Co-writer, Director, Editor) — a DV feature, currently being re–scored for exhibition.

“Martin wrote, co–produced, and edited the premier episode of Dosje e Krimit. The show, composed of pre–taped re–enactments of actual crimes, and a live call–in element, aired without a glitch due to Martin’s production and directing abilities.”

“…he turned a potentially dry subject, law & order, into fascinating television, unlike any ever seen before in Kosovo. Dosja e Krimit is now a complete success, both creatively and professionally. All due in part to Martin’s incredible commitment and leadership.” — Stacia Philips Deshishku, Chief, UNMIK Television

Hamro Jiwan “…a drama / documentary shot in Nepal which demonstrates both his determination with a difficult location and subject, together with his considerable story telling skills…” — Paul Wheeler, BSC FBKS

Martin’s main interest lies in directing. Having gained experience in other areas of film making such as editing, cinematography, camera, writing and production he feels that this experience is a huge advantage in understanding other peoples crafts and really helps him to work well in a team as a director. In addition Martin has been teaching in the TV and Film Department of Mountview Academy of the Dramatic Arts.

Martin graduated from Christ Church College, Oxford University and attended the London International Film School.
